Strange Random Question

I know this may be a stupid question, but I figured it would be worth a shot. I purchased a PC3 USB from a member on here. However, I bought it with the intention of purchasing an RC51. Well, the deal fell through and now I will still have a PC3. My question is, can the PC3 be installed on a 5th gen (1998) VFR? The connectors appear to be the same. I would just load a map from a VFR on to the PC.

Any thoughts? Would it damage the bike at all by installing the PC on it?

I have no idea.
You'll have to call Power Commander to possibly find out.

The RC51 '00-'06 PCIIIUSB 114-411
VFR800 '98-'99 No VTEC PCIIIUSB 101-411
VFR800 '02-'06 VTEC PCIIIUSB 111-411
VFR800 '06-'08 VTEC PCIIIUSB 126-411

I'm guessing the -411 relates to a Honda and the first 3 numbers relate to the model. Do you know off hand if the RC has 2 or 4 injectors? I'm guessing 2 injectors right? If true, this makes me think the RC and VFR wiring coming out of the PC would be different.

I don't mind experimenting since it's not too hard to install I just wouldn't want to damage the bike.

Thank you for posting and helping : )

The RC51 has 4 injectors.

To clarify a bit, the PCIIIUSB for PCIIIUSB for RC51 SP1 ('00-'01) is 105-411, while the PCIIIUSB for SP2 ('02-'06) is 114-411.

However, the only difference is the default mapping.
Either will work fine on each variant if the default mapping is changed to the RC51 variant used.
This is a fairly common practice.

Oh, very interesting. I would have thought the RC would only have 2 injectors - 1 for each cylinder. Having 4 though maybe the PC would work on a VFR. If all that is different is the base map that would be excellent. Power Commander would probably save time and money too by having to produce less model specific modules. I guess I will be the guinea pig here...

The same is true for the 111-411 (VFR 02-05) and the 126-411 (VFR 06-08).
I researched that before I bought one for my former '02 (v-tech) VFR.

But steves11 is a 98 and it calls for 101-411. Since steves11 VFR isnt a v-tech, I would give it a try after calling DynoJet.

The question is: Will a VFR map load onto a PC model for the RC51?

Which one do you have Steves11? 105 or 114?

I'm seeing a pattern in the first 3 numbers getting bigger as the model year goes up on the honda line...
Here's what I mean:
98-99 VFR = 101-411
00-01 RC51 = 105-411
00-01 VFR = 106-411
02-05 VFR = 111-411
02-06 RC51 = 114-411
06-08 VFR = 126-411

I believe this is the one I bought:

00-01 RC51 = 105-411 - PC3 USB

Since it's the closest number to the 98 VFR maybe it would work. I'll try calling Dynojet, but I don't know how much help they'll be.

I just don't know...
Let us know what PC says. They may be more help than you think. Or not.

So I called PC today and there were 10 people waiting ahead of me. I hung-up and will try again later. I thought I called at an off-time too....
