Fuel Light Not Working

My fuel light is not working. I know the light itself works because it lights up when i turn the key. Anybody know what would cause this.

It only comes on when your about to run out of gas......

Well I ran out of gas and no light. Thats why i'm asking.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm pretty sure i need to replace the fuel pump.

Yeah, mine shot craps last year. I need to get a new pump too, but don't want to shell out the dough.

What sucks is I cant even use my trip meter cuz my bike resets the trip when trying to start not all the time but alot
