help locating some parts

so i have been out of the motorcycle world for a while. back about 6 years ago i had a 2006 R6 that i raced. I moved to Colorado and sold the bike and haven't owned anything since.

i recently was given the opportunity to purchase a good friends 2001 Rc51. it has 25000 miles. still runs decent. he's not overly mechanical, so i plan to rip into it and replace a lot of worn parts. it has a yosh high mount full system. ill probably keep that on tho.

the fairings are in rough shape. a friend of the owners dropped it in a garage several times on both sides. I have seen fairing sets on eBay for 350ish give or take. Obviously i understand these are cheap chicom fairings, but are these or any other cheap options out there worth a look?. i am NOT racing, an i will not be beating on this bike. those days are past me. i don't think i need 2000$ worth of factory plastics for a bite I'm paying 1500$ for.

i want to replace levers and rear sets. i use to know a ton of sites that sold every yamaha aftermarket part for cheap and had a selection. what sites exist like this for the RC51?

i have read several threads and keep hearing about this mod and that mod that people do, to help with issues or performance. are all these mods listed somewhere, or at least a list of the names so i can search for them? this bike is higher milage so anything i can do to help get it running closer to new ill look at.

i appreciate everyones help and look forward to being an active part of this community.

25,000 miles is not high mileage for an '01. It's only just between the 16,000 and 32,000 mile valve check interval.

What mod are your referring to in general?

A good way to allow your bike run better is to install a power commander module along with a dyno session to tailor your air/fuel ratios for better performance and operation.

To make that more accurate, the disabling or removal of the PAIR system is needed to prevent skewing of the air/fuel readings during the fuel mapping session on the dyno.

There's also the disabling or removal of the flapper valve in the intake snorkel, which is there for intake noise moderation to pass EPA sound level tests.

Best site I've found for aftermarket parts is revzilla but honestly the classifieds on this forum and sometimes eBay are your best bet for most parts because a lot of the nice aftermarket parts aren't made anymore (especially the SP1 specific parts.) Along with what Sailor recommended above I would pick up a 1/6 turn HRC throttle, around $50 when I got mine on eBay and it made a big difference to me with throttle response.
