Electrical Gremlin

Ok, so I have an 04 and it kills the (brand new) battery after ~5 hours of riding, over the course of a week or so.

I ran the troubleshooting tree out of the service manual and found that it is "leaking" current at 1.1mA. (spec <.1mA)

That means that I probably have a short somewhere right? Any advice?

I was hoping it'd be a quick kill like the rectifier or a stater or something - not this potential can of worms.

Where should I look / start?

Does it have an alarm system? If so, disconnect it.
Then try to break the problem in halves.
Disconnect the rear harness from the front harness. Then you'll know if the problem is at the front or the rear.
Then continue trying to break the problem in half until you find the problem.
Try disconnecting the rectifier/regulator as well.

Aftermarket lights or any accessory if not wired right will draw bro. It's gotta be a big draw if ur stator can't keep up though.
