How do you know Regulator/Rectifier is fried???

Anyone know when your regulator/rectifier is toast? These are my symptoms: Bike starts cold. After about 20 min of light riding the bike slightly surges and the high beam goes in and out the lights in the odometer blink as bike is running and eventually bike turn off and will not start. But eventually will start again after 10 min of sitting. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jess

Haven't dug into an RC51 yet but on a CBR1000rr (04-07), you just pulled the rectifier and looked for a burned spot. But if your's starts again after a while, it may be something else.

The best way to check is with a multimeter...if you have the manual and a cheap meter will suffice it is very easy to do.

would not hurt to replace it, as they are prone to go bad after 10 years anyway. Some have had fires over them as well.
