Hard Start, Idle, And Running Issue...

I am pretty sure I know what is wrong with the bike just from reading around on the forums. The bike is a 03 sp2 with 16k. Ever since I got the bike it has been hard to start just about anytime. I usually have to give the bike some throttle to start unless the choke is out and it is completely cold. If its not then it usually takes about 5-10 revolutions of the engine to fire up. It has been that way since I got it. After a few months after it would get warm every once in awhile when I came to a stop the bike would idle down and cut off. Not all the time but every once in awhile. That has been going on for a few months now. Well today I noticed that the bike in first gear under a little bit of throttle it would sputter a little bit and skip, and EVERYTIME i came to a stop it would idle down and cut off. If I take off and give it a good amount of throttle it doesn't seem to cut out or bog down or anything runs fine. I am guessing just from what other things I have read that it is probably the fuel pressure regulator. Correct me if I am wrong though, I figure its probably that or maybe a vacuum line that is cracked or broken somewhere. I haven't torn it down yet to check the fpr. But I got a feeling it is shot. Another question I have is where can I get one? I have done a few searches but it seems they are very hard to find. Also are there any aftermarket fpr's around?? I have heard that the rc runs better on a bit more fuel from the fpr instead of the stock 51psi. Neways thanks in advance for any help!

You can order a new fuel pressure regulator (FPR) from one of the MANY online "microfiche" Honda parts websites/companies (or even the local dealership), such as Ron Ayers or other vendors...

G'luck.

Your diagnosis sounds correct I was having the same problems and I change out my FPR and fuel filter ( filter just for GP) and the difference was night and day. The bike start right up no throttle or choke needed

You could order it from MRCycles in Asheville, NC.
Practically in your back yard.
