OEM Fairings

Okay guys, I just pucked up a 2004 NH edition yesterday. It is covered in the terrible ebay chinese plastic that is cracked, faded and just terrible looking.

My question is, who has the best pricing on new OEM plastic? I need basically all of the plastic.

I also bought a 2004 and had been painted matte black by previous owner. I looked everywhere I could think of, and best prices were at partzilla. I replaced all plastics, and tank. Paid almost $2500 for everything. Had the black OEM to sell, so wasn't to bad.

Thats insanity. Motosport has them as well, but the tab is close to $2k for the sides, tail, headlight bezel and the 2 smaller pieces below the headlight. Id have another $500 in the rear fender tray if I wanted it.

OEM is expensive, but if going to keep bike it's worth it. When I bought last year, partzilla had best prices. For both lower fairings, upper fairing, seat cowl, and front fender it was $1799.01 Motorsport was $1994.62 for same 5 items. I also bought a tank, and lid for seat cowl that's why mine was almost $2500.00 last I looked partzilla was showing the right lower cowl being obsolete. As an example at Motorsport the price of upper cowl is $380.13 @ partzilla it's $342.87

Can get a new Chinese set for under $500.00, Some make out OK with them fitments wise, most don't. All will melt if no heat tape is used. There are some fiberglass race fairings that are better then Chinese, but will need prep work and paint. When I priced out paint jobs. I was quoted between $1200 and $1800 that included prepping and painting tank. I sold my OEM matte black stuff, and put money towards new OEM so that took some of the pain out of it. Basically it depends what you plan on doing with bike really. If you are gonna keep everything else on bike the way it is ride it, and sell it year or two, then get new Chinese. If you are going to keep bike for a longer period of time, and upgrade brakes, suspension, exhaust and other stuff them invest in OEM.

Yeah unfortunately everything for our bikes is very expensive compared to other models. Hopefully Motorsport can still get them from Honda. Partzilla has listed as obsolete. I have been waiting on a fairing stay that's on backorder for last 4 months. I was going to order another set of lowers and put away.

Can also look around for used OEM, but hard to find decent stuff. eBay has some from time to time. A lot of Facebook groups also. Honda RC51 fans seems most popular in the states.
