Exclamation Engine dying at idle, running rough

Need help guys. Went for a ride today and the first two hours were perfect, didn't even have to pull the choke at first start up, idled fine, accelerated and stayed at a constant speed with no issues. Stopped for a bit and then went back on my way but the engine suddenly started having a hard time at idle, kept dying then started to run a little chunky, would not cruise smoothly and keeping it at one throttle position, it would act like it was having constant fight with itself in regards to how fast it wanted to go. I have read several post about rectifiers suddenly going out and fuel line clogs and such. The bike only has 24k and plan on lifting the tank tomorrow, just wanted to gets some helpful input in regards to specific things I should be looking at. Thank you for any and all assistance and insight that you can give me.

Try fresh gas first. Easiest. Then go from there. The manual troubleshooting is where I'd go.

No power commander or anything. Yeah, I topped off the tank with fresh fuel, but will test the regulator and just flush the lines and stuff. Just wanted to make sure there was no other secret squirrel stuff that I would be fortunate to learn of or something. Will start the diagnosis tomorrow and let you know what I find. Thank you.

Check your FPR too

Pull the vacuum hose off it and make sure it doesn't leak out gas from there.

Thanks for the help, narrowed it down to the fpr, of course no dealership has one in stock anywhere in the Florida panhandle. Any chance there is a substitute that I could search for in lieu of the "Honda" brand?

No, its made by Keihin.....Honda East Toledo www.hondaeasttoldeo.com or

http://www.partsfish.com/ is where I get mine.

You will be luck that it is in stock at any dealership. They only take a few days to get.

Thanks buddy, sucks though, it is our bike week here and it has done nothing but rain since Tuesday until yesterday and now that the weather is clear and beautiful, no ride. Ill update to confirm the diagnosis once the fpr is replaced. Thanks again

Ah, I see the urgency now

If you have any issues while changing the FPR, come back here. Some of us have been in your shoes before.
