Airbox Truths?

So, I have read many claims about power gains and weight savings that come with an aftermarket CF airbox. What is the truth here, for an SP2 with average slip-INS, PC3 and the soft rev limiter mod?

Weight savings definitely.
My OEM airbox (no filters) weighs 1.808 Kg while the Turn-One airbox weighs only .623 Kg.
For savings of 1.185 Kg of 2.6 lbs.

Hord's dyno runs sure show the value of the airbox with some other mods; still not clear on the gains for a bike with just PCIII and cans.

Hi Greg...I asked the same question in another thread today. Thanks to B Miller, he pointed me to a local contact and I am going over to have a dyno run done later today.

I think I will start a separate thread with my findings in hopes it will help others...;-)

5hp wouldn't let an RC51 keep up with an 848 let alone an 1198...

The 848's put out the same hp as an RC51 and weigh 72lbs less the 1198's are putting out 30-40 more hp than the RC does.

That is true, Mike... but I still passed every one I encountered at the track day last weekend, though I lost ground on the straights. Of course that was in the Intermediate Group, when I got back to Expert I fully expect to get my ass kicked.
