Building Headers

So, due to the fact of the rarity of good full systems (and the prices) i have decided it would probably be best just to build one out of SS tubing and my tig.

My question is does anyone know the diameters of the different sections?

I can find enough pictures of them to build the junction similar but am not sure on the best sizes.

I would buy one off of ebay and go from there unless your going with aftermarket. If no one has responded to this by 22:00 tonight I'll be back at work and will research stock inside diameter and outside. I will also include any other aftermarket headers I can find. I will look up the HRC and Ladybird first.

When asked if I have money I say no I have a rc51.

yes i am going aftermarket.
It has stock header and slip on now. But i want to go to full exhaust.
What i mean is the size of the different sections. Thats what separates a good exhaust from a cheap one.

I got you know you want the lengths of the sections not pipe size so to speak. Again I'll look into it tonight.

i just went through this nightmare. Basicallly unless your heavily building the motor any off the shelf full system is plenty for the RC.

it should also be noted that unless your a master welder, this shouldnt be something to take on yourself as ive come to learn welders charge as much or more than most senior level IT-techs make hahaha.

basically for what you will spend in time and $ making one of these it MIGHT make 1hp up top more than a akra or ladybird full system and it wont come out even half as nice as it will probably be out of stainless.

2>1 is pretty decent on a BUILT motor but the diameter of the pipes is everything, i have a pretty badass 2>1 system for my built bike and it work great even though the 2>1 is not known for being the best on the RC51.

shell out the cash for the AKRA OR LADYBIRD. worth every cent.

Well this motor is going to get Rogers head work and the revolution cams as well as pistons of his recommendation.
As well as DHC airbox so the exhaust is needed. Welding is no problem. I have built the pipes for my RD350 as well as my FZR1000 which is way more fab work than the twin. I can tig Ti but it is tricky. I have gotten most of my tubing from cone engineering. I will probably stick with SS for this however and go with a Ti can if i do the 2-1

Thanks for the reply RC-Devil. Love your bike btw. do you have any pictures of the bike with the 2-1?

Thanks,
Kole

Kole,

Here is a pic you had requested of a 2-1 exhaust. This is a ceramic coated 2-1 Ti jardine with a burned Ti ladybird motogp can from Simon for you...on Rogers' fully built motor....

BTW, Roger recommends JE pistons with no more than 11.6:1 static C.R.....I swainteched my crown and pc9'd the skirts.....
