Cam Installation

Probably covered here somewhere but I can't find a definitive answer.

When installing cams when all four have been removed;

Rotate engine to the FT mark - check
Install camshafts with index marks facing outwards - check

My question is should the piston for the cylinder (both front and rear) be at top dead centre when installing the cams?

Thanks in advance

I don't have an answer, but when I did it, the Honda service manual covered it all.
No need to double post the same thread.
The How To forum isn't for questions, it's for explaining how to do something step by step.

FT is for Front cylinder TDC. Then you install the front cylinder's cams with their marks as you described.
Then you rotate the crank 270 deg. counterclockwise...... You'll find that there's a mark there for Rear cylinder TDC. Then you install the cams on the rear cylinder with their marks as you described.

Read carefully the service manual first.
Strikes me odd you didn't read it before beginning the whole process.

Good luck

1+ read the manual.

They are free everywhere. I printed it off at work on the xerox and had my grad student organize it into a binder with all the tabs.
