stater cover gasket

ok after replacing a dead fan on my right radiator, flushing my system, finding out my baro sensor was unplugged by the previous owner the whole time and thats why i had an FI light, changing my dead stater, reassembling everything mechanical, installing a new oil filter, and putting new oil i have an issue. my bike runs mint with no FI light and starts normally as well as both fans working, but now my stater cover is dripping!!! when i removed the old gasket i made sure to remove every speck of it and cleaned both surfaces as well as put in a new oem gasket. i torqued each bolt down evenly in a big star pattern so that the cover would lay flat as possible, what am i missing here? are these thing supposed to go in dry or did i have to use some sort of sealer as well? please give me some insight as to where i went wrong. thanks! im bummed, i thought id be going for a test ride tonight...........................

lovin' my little torque monster.
