Purple coolant?

I just did a coolant flush and the stuff that was in there was purple. Anyone have any idea about this? It was a very dark purple, too so I'm guessing it was dirty.

Could have been Engine Ice.

I thought it might have been something like that, but does Engine Ice turn purple?

I'm not sure. Engine ice is a little more blue than purple but perhaps as it ages it gets to a purple colour. Or perhaps it is Royal Purple's Purple Ice.

Oh snap, I didn't know RP made coolant. I don't get why the previous owner would use crap engine oil then spend the extra on RP, though.

Sometimes you use what you got. "I'll change that soon, but for now..."

Might want to do a complete flush with distilled water and fill with either.(RP or EI) I like the Engine Ice and has performed well for me.

Well, I'll try Engine Ice next time. I did a flush, ran about 2 gallons of distilled water until everything ran clear then filled it up with Valvoline 50/50. I figure that's what a "flush" was.

BTW, how do you like those Titax Levers? I just ordered some.

Should have done a fill and then ran the engine until the thermostat released.....still coolant in the block, not much but still there.

For the price....you can't beat them. I think I have maybe a total of $60 in them, so far so good. I have a spare chrome lever that has a Yamaha control mount, if you ordered chrome that is...anyone is welcome to it for shipping costs.
