Try this. I use the Purolator filter.....just a bit more insurance and a few coins cheaper tha OEM from the dealer.

Supposedly the SP1 engine has a higher oil pressure than the SP2.

OOPPSS you are correct. It is the 00 which has the higher pressure.

the filter i was sold was blue so i was a little thrown at first. it also seems to have a little bit more capacity that the black one
the blue one has apart number of 15410-mt7-003

after calling the honda shop and explaining that the filter was for a 2000-2001 and them telling me that they didnt stock the filter they sold me, i rode the bike up there and showing them the filter on the bike and the reciept the agreed to swap for the correct filter and top off the oil. im prob being paranoid but im riding to the beach this weekend and last thing i want is issues.

Thanks for that MB. I had that site but lost it. It's back in my favorites, that's one hell of a site!

Interesting. The first oem filter I bought WAS blue. the second one was black, the tech said it updated from the blue one. Since i have a 2000, I'll look into it also. Or just get the Purolator that Madbuyer uses...

I think it was on Speedzilla where Hord post something about the 00 having higher oil pressure than the 01 and later engines. Hence the different filters.
