If you change your oil frequently, then regular oil or semi-synthetic will do just fine.
I myself use Mobil-1 4T 10W40 in my bikes.

Choosing a brand or type of oil is like choosing a woman...we like them all but you usually go back to just one.

Pending on where you live you you may run a different weight. 20W50 for the hotter climates and 10W40 for moderate areas.

Sub's advise is sound so use what you can readily find locally at an auto parts store.

Copy that...
My RC will likely get better care than my previous commuter... but I don't think you can't go wrong with Mobil1, I'm, also running the larger M1-110 filter. I ran my last bike, Superhawk VTR1000F, to about 47k, without issues. and some of my oil changes ran as long as 5-6k in between. $60 for an oil change is a little tough to stomach though....

Honda factory filter and factory oil.....

....or, if you are really, really, anal like me, Motul 300v 10-40 oil and Per-Form filter.

But, it really does not matter much, if at all.

As far as the 20-50 weight in hotter climates, that's really not necessary. I'm in Louisiana and use 10-40. The oil weight is determined by the tolerances inside your engine more than the ambient temperature.

Our engines are precision built, by HRC professionals, and the owner's manual asks for 10-40.

Mobil 1 is darn good oil, it is easy to find, and should fit the bill.

Don't over think oil.

Ride.

^ Polarbear - Not to sidetrack, but that's interesting. AFAIK, Mobil doesn't offer those large jugs of motorcycle oil here in the USA.

I remember e-mailing Mobil in the past to ask about that. I sure wish they sold 'em here like the car/truck 5 or 5.1 quart jugs.

Anyone here in the States seen the large Mobil 1 4T 10w-40 containers?
