LOL. 150cc in one of these... sounds like fun!
When I was 15, my cousin in Portugal had one of these which we'd sent him in the back of a truck from the UK and he'd managed to register as a 50cc, being it was so small n'all. He was a few years older than me and I was easily influenced & so I have a few fond memories of juvenile irresponsibility:
One night we'd gone to his high school graduation and drinking games had ensued. Both of us were well beyond any limit had there been one in those days. Portugal was still not even close to being a part of the EU, let alone having laws on drinking age. I don't think the Police even had breathalizer bags back then and at 4am they'd long since made themselves scarce for the night.
So there we were riding home on wet cobbled roads.... As we went over a well worn steel bridge whose tarmac had all been worn away and recently rained on, we fell off at slow speed. The chain came off so we put it back on and continued on our way with only the dim 6v headlight to guide our shaky path.... About 500 metres further along Pedro managed to ride us into the biggest pothole the poor bike had ever seen. Suspension bottomed out and the back wheel rim was badly dented. We almost fell off again, but made it home in one piece.
The next morning my uncle asked us, "Did you two fall off the bike last night & were you drinking?" Our silence was evidently quite loud or perhaps it was my ripped jeans which gave it away.
We took the bike to their beach house and beat the back wheel rim straight. For good measure I decided to clean the carb out too. As we finished - Pedro took it for a ride to check it was better & it seemed good as he flew down the road. But then as he turned a corner I realised with horror I'd not assembled the carb correctly - it was jammed open and as a consequence he'd fallen off - again!
Thanks for the pics Smoker. I'd completely forgotten about this cool little bike. That was some 30 years ago!
There's major Honda Monkey tuning parts here in Japan. People fit all sorts of funky mods to them, all the way to upside down front forks and brembo calipers. Sometimes I see convoys of tricked-out monkies out on rides. Cool toys!
