So I got a winter project bike last night...VF1000R

All complete hasn't run in 4 years, BUT the gas tank was full(no rust), stored in a shed, and the clutch and brakes are NOT frozen so hope to be an easy restore. It was parked because the starter went bad.

Came with Service manual, owners manual, spare head gaskets, has unscraped Kerker muffs on it but the midpipes are rotted.

That is cool! I would so roll that bike. It has an awesome retro look. Great score.

Those 1000Rs have a lot of potential.

Two possibilities, both with RC51 forks:

I really dig the top photo with VFR swingarm far more than the bottom.
The black wheels so really well with the red, white, and blue color scheme.
What it needs is a set of matching black Marchesini wheels, and Brembo Superbike rotors and calipers to give that final touch.

Marchesini rear wheel on VFR swingarm = possible, but difficult and $$$ to do.

Custom machined rear axle needed, and very little clearance left for the rear brake caliper inside the wheel's spokes.

Here is my buddy Rick's VFR with a stock Ducati wheel on the back and full Ohlins suspension:

I like the top pic......I also like the exhaust. I am really curious to know what exh options I've got for this bike. The pipe going into the right muff is rotted. Considering the F2 wheel swap.
