The new bike

For various reasons, Saturday i decided to trade in my BMW S1000RR for something new. I have always loved the Triumph 675 and when the 675R came out i was immediately drawn to it, so Saturday i made the hour long ride up to Denver and traded for a 2012 Triumph Daytona 675R.

I am really impressed with the bike, i can honestly say it is by far the best handling bike i have ever ridden and it sounds great. Really like the triple, Good power and torque. Perfect for canyon cruising and track days.

Yowzers! That's a sweet looking bike! Apparently you like it much better than the S1000RR?

Don't quite understand it but the Trumpet looks good and yes, the triples are very sweet sounding. This bike should be easier on the wallet too...

Hey GTS455, nice you see you back, buddy.
Lovely performance focused bike!. Nice & new too - intrigued that you sold the BMW and got this.
Please share what you didn't like so much about the S1000RR, just curious, really!

yeah it is. Honestly the BMW was missing something. It had no soul. It was a great bike but all the electronics just made it not fun.....maybe it was me but i just could not "feel" the bike. The 675R would run circles around it at the track.....oh and did i mention i have a kid on the way? My way of downsizing, plus the RC project is getting EXPENSIVE.

It was just a lot of unuseable power and it lacked soul.....it felt cheap. Sure i would smile when i rode it, but when i came home, got off, and walked away from it. I just didn't miss it.I also came to the realization that i don't think i could ever ride "fast" around a track. By fast i mean the bike was just too much. With all the electronics and power, i could not feel what the bike was doing. I made the decision knowing i could learn a lot more and get a lot better with a track ready supersport. if i had the choice again i would have waited for the 675R or went with an RSV4 or 312R.

Interesting to hear on the BMW. It was a ground breaking bike of course, but just goes to show sometimes too much engineering isn't necessarily a good thing, I guess. We all like bikes with soul too, which is what draws us to the RC51...

Yep, you mentioned (via e-mail) you have a little one on the way. Your wife & you must be very excited. Big changes coming your way!
Is it a boy or girl?

My wife's due to have a boy in less than a month and so we'll have one of each soon. She doesn't want me to teach our daughter to ride a bike (She does ballet instead, lol) but I've already forewarned her our son will be riding a small motocross bike by the time he's 4 and that I have plans to build a small but twisty go-cart track in the forest behind our home by the time he's 5-6. I've no doubt he's going to like fast machines too, it's just natural progression - absolute.

yeah, i remember you telling me your wife was pregnant around the same time i found out. We are having a boy as well. He is due in March, but we think he might be early cause he is pretty big already. Will make 1 of each for me as well. I already have his first few bikes picked out. First he will be getting a little triumph 675 wooden bike to scoot around the house on, then we'll move up to a peg perego Hayden 24V electric desmo replica....then we'll hit the motocross bikes and pocket bikes when he is 3 or 4.

Man, i wish my parents got me a sweet ducati power wheels when i was kid.

LEt me know when you guys have the little guy. I'm sure you're excited, really good to hear from you again.
