Not sure, but this reminded me of this guy who set a different kind of record on the rc - http://www.gizmag.com/go/3314/

The research I did said a RC51 with suspension set up for the drag strip and good ridder should run 10.30"s. I spend most of my summer at the drag strip.... If I can get my hands on some gear I'd like to take my down the track at one of our test & tune weekends.

To put it in perspective, my buddy with a 954 and stock (tall) gearing could easily beat my RC51 with -1+2 in a quarter mile. A lot of bikes could take the RC51. In a straight line dash.

10.30's would be very very hard, unless you were an expert on a geared modded RC (and suspension mods such as lowered and wheelie bar) imo.

The average rider is probably almost 1 second slower than quoted magazine 1/4 times on a bike, because it is tricky off the line.

I have a time slip somewhere. From what I remember I ran an 11.25 best 1/4 mile one day on my 2000 RC51. The new 2000 GSXR 750 my friend ran beside me did about 11 flat. So it wasn't like I didn't launch at least half decently.

Okay, found my info.

Best I did 1/4 mile was 11.207.

I may be off on my near 1 second estimate + for a mag 1/4 mile time. But it is definitely higher for almost everyone. My guess is I was about 0.5 sec higher. I don't have quoted 1/4 mile times for stock RC51s. My pass also was with +2 rear and mori exhaust with PC map.

A decent modded RC51 magazine time can be found here. 10.55 sec 1/4 mile. At least it can be used to compare to other magazine times.
