Bike Week

Anyone here planning on going this year? I will be heading down from Jacksonville, FL for the last weekend. Plan on catching the AMA race. I have a few other friends riding down with me (cruisers and street bikes). Should be a nice ride. Let me know.

Be careful....more and more folks gettin' killed during bike week.

Last time I was there, I saw a lot of accidents. Not to mention the cops are assholes too.

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah I have never been. I'm from Chicago, just moved to Florida a little over a year ago. I'm sure it will be a one and done thing for me. I hear Biketober Fest is much better. Might check that out to this year.

Biketober Fest is better.

Daytona cops have a glaring hard on for people on sport bikes.

If I go to Daytona, I go for the races, not for the dog and pony shows.
Biketoberfest is far more laid back than Bike Week.
Just popping into town one time, I got a nice hotel room within walking distance of the track.
Plus, was able to ride/drive right onto the in-field free of charge and just sat in the stands watching the races.
That was the capper of the weekend with a visit to Cape Canaveral on the way up.
Quite a nice week of vacation. Maybe I'll think about it again this year.

I was fortunate enough to watch a rocket launch from the sea turtle reserve across from Canaveral....pretty cool.

I will be going along with a few buddies for the whole week. Get there on sunday 10th. We arent actually staying in daytona, but just up the road in New Symurna(sp?). This will be my fifth trip and ive had nothing but good times. In my experience, the cops arent any worse there than anywhere else unless you go acting like a total a$$.

exactly. i was born in daytona, raced at daytona, spent every bike week for many years there, my cousin is a daytona cop, and what would you expect when you have an extra 300k people than normal in your town. daytona brings in an extra 400 reserve cops for full time during this time frame. alot which have very minimal experience. they have to drink from the fire hose. I have never been pulled over on any of my bikes at daytona.

you have to put yourself in a daytona cops shoes for a moment. I know there are plenty of dick cops in every department (i work with several), but its not an easy job to deal with a ton of people who think that freedom means to be a retard every chance they get and not have concequences.
