Bay Area: New SP2 owner

Hi all! I'm the proud owner of an 05' RC51, black and grey, 11k miles, K&N intake, PCIII, Jardine slip-ons, and some other cosmetic goodies.

I'm looking for a good shop to do some maintenance on it, tire install, etc. I also may decide to replace the front plastic, as it was damaged during shipping. Can anyone give me an idea of the cost for the front plastic? I'm in negotiation with the shipping company now.

I'll be riding to MotoGP in July, so I'll see some of you there!

Thanks!
Scott

congrats on your find, too bad to hear about the damage done from shipping. The model you have is a little rare to find damaged so far so best bet for fairings is from an overpriced dealer or flea bay. How bad is the damage?

2001 rc51 upgraded

1999 vtr 1000 "superhawk" sold

2006 650R Ninja sold

$495 for a new one from The Motor Cafe in Sunnyvale. The damage isn't bad, but it's still a new bike to me! Maybe a body shop can fix it for less; I'll check that out, too.

You can try ordering your upper cowl from here:
http://www.indyoem.com/fiche_section...05&fveh=124388

The price is over $100 less, but that's without shipping.
Check shipping cost for ground delivery and see if how much cheaper it will be.

BTW that is almost $100 less than what I bought mine for in '08.
So that ain't bad. And it's OEM. Not aftermarket.

What is a K&N Intake? or do you mean those high flow air filters that actually hurt the performance of the bike instead of help it

Thank you. It seems my insurance company is going to step up and cover this under comprehensive and no fault.

Ha! Thanks for the heads-up. I'm betting it's the latter, and if that's the case, I will rectify it at the 12k service that I'm scheduling.

Welcome to the forum.
I too have an O5' Black Beauty with about 8k on it.
XtremeUSA.com in Hammond, Indiana also has OEM Honda Parts for less than MSRP and are usually cheaper than Ron Ayers.com in North Carolina, which also discounts Honda OEM parts.
Enjoy
