Hey pal, don't get me wrong, while it is sad that I no longer ride the RC on the street, I do get to ride it where I can experience most of what it has to offer me in a relatively controlled environment. After last season on the track I just can't abide taming her or me "down" for the street. And what I've done to Miss Piggy in the process in no way makes it unstreetable in the future...barring a bad get off and binning it beyond repair. If that happens, at my age I have other concerns to handle. While I can't prevent another rider making a dumb mistake and taking me out from behind or a bad pass, I trust "me" and my riding ability. I've made some very good friends with the group and will continue riding track until I'm either no longer able to do so or become a threat to others. I'm not sorry I got bitten by the track bug, just wish I'd done it sooner with possibly a different bike than my SP, but I don't have pockets that deep so it stays on the track for as long as I'm able to afford it and remain healthy. Not going crazy with performance upgrades or tricked out suspension, I can't afford that either, too many household upgrade costs on my limited budget. Unless I win the big one...
I still have my 1800 Wing for the straight and boring out here, and it holds it's own in the mountains even two up so I can still go places, just won't be as cramped up when I get there. Speaking of which, a bunch of us are headed into the Kootenays for a meet and greet (GWOF site members) on the 23rd. My pal from Sumas is going to be there. He and his riding buds head over to Winthrop a couple times a year so I'll tell him to keep a weather eye out for a hustling crowd of RC51 riders whenever him and the rest of the geezers are in the area. Don't underestimate these guys, I've ridden with them and they certainly not "fogies" that hold up traffic!
As for me, I have a cross country tour lined up for this time next year, down to Niagara and then across into the States and down to PA and then back across the northern States (on the Wing of course) unless a certain someone blocks all border crossings after the election (not saying, just saying). Of course a certain dumb-arse in Ottawa may do everything he can to keep all of us down on this side of the border too so.
7 more sleeps and it's double header track weekend time. You guys ride safe!
Duct tape can't fix stupid...but it sure helps muffle the sound
