Automatic Password Changes Coming

If you are a member of other forums, as am I...you may have received an email informing you that your password has been automatically changed on that board. We here at RC51 will be doing the same thing. We take your security very seriously, and are always taking advantage of most up to date software that ensures it is never compromised. You will soon get an email that notifies you that your password has been changed, it also contains a link as well as a temporary password that you will enter to access you Control Panel. Once you have used your new password and entered your settings, you can then choose your own password. We apologize for any hassles or inconvenience, but we want to make sure that you have the best security that's out there.

Exclamation

Something members need to do to help the VS team reach you with the new information is to make sure your email is up to date and is the same as what you have in your details. If it's different, the admin team cannot reach you with the updated passwords and your access to the site will be lost. Help them help you.

Don't particularly like having to remember a password that must include upper & lower case, number & symbol - but it's done now. I think the forum owners will lose some members who don't use the e-mail addresses they gave when joining though!

Stig, as long as the members remember that if they underwent an email change it's their onus to update the details in their profile. I've been through some very stubborn attitudes over on the Goldwing site and I can't help people that refuse to help themselves. If you use Chrome or Firefox etc for a browser, they'll store your passwords and it's no big deal. Even IE will if you click the remember me box

The security breaches that are being experienced by not just forums, but other entities as well, are pretty overwhelming and serious. It's a bad habit we can get into by using the same password for our frequented sites so we don't forget them. These hackers figure out 1, they get them all. It can for sure be a hassle, but the hassle of having a bank account accessed is much worse....
