Very nice...very jealous. I would love to go away but the woman and I think we may have found our retirement place. Nice little cabin at the end of a very twisty road in the interior.

Looks great Budoka! Thanks for sharing.
Reminds me of taking past a girlfriend to Hawaii (Maui) some time ago, it's kinda a funny story.
She couldn't swim so I tied a floating ring around her waist and put a mask & snorkel on her face, fins on her feet then towed her past the waves off the beach... At around 4 + metres we started seeing lots of fish and she was amazed, as she saw fish swim around her.

So the following day as I'd booked a dive early in the morning, to keep her occupied I'd suggested she book an introduction to Scuba in the pool. She'd kinda changed her mind so went to tell them she'd cancel - but she didn't speak much English at the time.
As she approached the pool, the instructor looked up and seeing a young Japanese girl confirmed, "Are you Eiko?"
"Ah, uh... yes", she said.
"Great - we'll soon get you kitted up!".
She didn't have the confidence to say no, so she got ready.

Later that afternoon as she'd done basic training they asked if she'd like to go into the sea and dive just off the beach with others and she confirmed....
Remember this was a girl who wasn't a swimmer at all!

After her return she told me of how she'd dived but didn't control her boyancy well so she'd been up & down like a yoyo - but thoroughly enjoyed seeing turtles, fish, some coral, etc.
She went on to take an open water qualification shortly after she got back to Japan.

I always say to people contemplating it, if you like nature - go diving, as the life under the water can be several times more beautiful than the most amazing nature they see above the water.

I don't have any pics from dives on this computer, but here's one of our Border Collie when my wife & I took her to Okinawa with us 8 years ago. We had some great diving there. Thankfully Jenny loves swimming too.

Actually we have sushi made of red lionfish as a weekly treat at teh resort owner's house. The local divemasters cull sections of the reef to control them, they have no natural preditors in the Caribbean waters. Gorgeous to look at but they breed like rabbits and eat everything they can fit in their mouths.
Stig we dove in Okinawa in '98. It rained so hard on the way to the dive site the captain had to stop the boat 'cause he couldn't navigate/see where he was going. Lots of sharks on the first dive, 87* water temp. What I found curious on the boat is the Japanese on board were segregated to the bow (in the downpour) while we were allowed under the sheltered section. I didn't think that was too fair.

The most interesting, but not strictly legal dive we did in Okinawa was one night just off a quiet & shallow jetty. Me with a bag and a local American missionary friend with his spear gun. The first thing we came across was a large cuttle fish. The spear didn't pearce it so we saw it swim off in a trail of ink. Sad for the creature to be hurt like that...
At night it's so easy to catch them & so we did get Octopus, Parrot Fish, Lobster and many others. The Octopus kept finding it's way out of the netting and almost escaping...
We caught a large amount, then took it with our wives to a local Izakaya (traditional Japanese bar) where they made us stuff like lobster shashimi and other great food with our fresh catch.
Our payment for the wonderful meal and plenty of beer was the remainder of fish we'd caught and not eaten. Great memory there - about 8 years ago...

Thanks for sharing, Budoka.
And here I thought I was the only one without any shame myself.

And we all know that sharing is caring !!

Take Care.

P.S. My shots are from a cafe in Lahore that has a nice decor & is one of a gathering spots for local bikers & car fans. The close up of a guy in "Punjabi" garb has Mr. Troublemaker written phonetically from Urdu, the language spoken in Pakistan.
Said picture being posted up in deference to MBs' penchant for things "Punjabi" & RC-Devils' & my "Punjabi" background.

Hope "Tusee wal ho, Shan Jee !!"
