New Cage

So i had bought a BMW wagon around christmas as a daily driver....well it didn't last....actually it began having problems less then 24 hours later. The vehicle is deadlined.

So i bought a another car to use as a daily driver and fun project. Now a proud owner of a 1967 Volvo P131 Amazon. Will post up pics when i bring it home this week.

Modern BMW's tend to not be so reliable. I could have told you that before!

But they're proper hewn from solid steel cars, these old Amazon Volvos.
Might be a bit underpowered with its original engine but if you feel up to it, take the drivetrain out and fit an OM606 Turbodiesel engine &a suitable 5 or 6 speed box into it. These diesel engines aren't hard to find in Germany & would make it go like stink, but still be economical.
Looking forward to seeing pics!

yeah, thanks. I'll never touch a BMW EVER again. Worst car i have ever owned.

The Volvo amazon i picked up has a B20 motorswap with 4 speed manual and overdrive. You can get plenty of power out of them. Right now its sitting at 90 hp, but a new cam, dual carbs, exhaust, and air filters are in the future for a little more power. That should put me in the 125 range and should be a fun and super reliable little saloon. Trying to keep it simple and this car is as simple as it gets.

The STI is gone. The original plan was to keep the STI and bought the BMW wagon for the family.....worst move i ever made. Car literally started breaking down and having electrical issues 24 hours after i brought it home. Long story short i could not justify having the nice car with 2 kids and a pregnant wife drving in an unreliable BMW. Traded the STI in for our 2015 Volvo XC60 R design....best move i've made. So that left me without a car and i decided i wanted another Volvo. Was trying to find a V70R, 850 wagon with T5, or an older Amazon. Found the Amazon and so far i am really happy. I'll take a video of the drive home this week, its a really nice scenic route through the Black Forest near my house.

What year/model BMW did you have? They can be a tough car to love at times; my 335i hasn't been without its issues, but man is it rewarding when it's in its element... They just have such a solid confident feel and communicate everything to the driver so well on a nice backroad. I like to refer to it as a "leather wrapped bowling ball". Problems tend to be model dependent, it's somewhat hit and miss. I've been close to the point of breaking up with mine, but then we go for a drive and "make up" :P

It is a E39 520i wagon. I will admit it was a very stable grounded car and with the sport suspension and short shifter it was kind of fun too, for such a big underpowered car.
Apparently these are notorious for electrical issues that are often fixed by replacing the ENTIRE wire harness in the car.....obviously more expensive, then what the car is worth.
The other big issue is the dealer sold me a 2001....that i recently found out was actually a 99 model. about a 3000 dollar difference in value.

I also had a 750il awhile back which was big fun car as well, but i'm done with BMW. too much headache for cars that really aren't much better then the other manufacturers. I am convinced you are paying for the name. My experience with Volvo's have been a night and day difference.

I have a 2010 335i going on 3 years and it has been great so far. With mods it is a BEAST, and that was somewhat unexpected, and it is a lot of fun to drive. I still enjoy driving it as much as when I got it.

Yeah mine is still all stock but I'm sure I won't be able to hold back forever; I hear the JB4 setup can put you in M3 territory very easily. Are you on the E90post forums?
