Radar detector

So I was ticketed this morning driving to work ($140). Interestingly enough, of all my motorcycles I've had and other fast cars, I get speeding tickets in slow Jeeps and trucks. This morning it was a 01 Grand Cherokee mainly used for off roading.

Anyways, does anyone here use radar detectors? Do they work at all? Any recommendations?

Good ones like the Valentine 1 and latest from beltronics and escort do work if the leo has his radar on all the time. They are useless against lidar however. They will also detect radar instant on if your following someone within a 1/4 mile or so.

Stay away from cobra, they are junk. When it comes to radar detectors you get what you pay for

I had a radar detector once.....got three tickets in one year and threw the fecking POS out the window.

You can go to court and plead out, I do it when I get tickets. You still pay the fine but no point son the DLR

Check state laws as I thought some states can ticket you for having a radar detector?

2004 SP2 (properly stored)
2012 Ruckus (stolen)
2015 Grom (under construction)

Ouch!

So cruise control is your answer Actually, I did use that today on the stretch were I got the ticket.

How about on the bike, no cruise there.

Yeah...it was a tough few years when I was younger...in my 20's and not able to drive/ride

So cruise control became the answer.

As for the bike...well that is why I switched to track riding only. About a year ago I was out with a friend riding some back roads when we past a cop (going the opposite direction) at about 115mph. He flipped around and got stuck behind some cars...we slowed down expecting to get pulled over, but he never caught up to us. In my current job if I get a ticket like that my "career" would pretty much be over.

So got home and told the wife I need to either sell the bike or ride track only...she told me to buy what I needed for the track

Since then...no more street riding cause I like to go fast. Unless you count my daily riding to work on my Ruckus?

Just my personal experience.

Whew, that is quite a story. Glad it all turned out all right. It takes a lot of self control to not go wide open on the street on these bikes, because they are practically begging you to do so. Even more self control to go track only. I have never been to a track, but I would really like to sometime, although I don't think I'd want to take the RC as a beginner, maybe an beater F4i or 600rr.

I'm sure the Ruckus keeps you in check, haha.

Sadly I still "speed" on the Ruckus...known to do 42 in a 35 but cops don't even bother to look at me
