2004, bone stock with less than 400 miles on it. $1500. Cool little ride.

YES!!!! Now that's what I'm talking about.

If you plan in modding it, let me know as I have some suggestions on what to do and what to avoid. My came modded, but some mods I wouldn't do in retrospect.

You know, I thought yellow was a bit too flashy, as I didn't want to draw any more attention to myself on the thing, but it's starting to grow on me!

I think I will do some modifications. A little more power would be nice, maybe 80cc swap. Is there an inexpensive pipe I can put on so I can take off the massive, heavy stock one?

What all do you have done on yours?

It is a 49cc scoot...so power is not its strong point...kinda like the RC, the Ruckus is too heavy and under powered.

The only real way to up power is an engine swap, but the famous 150cc swap puts a crappy Chinese motor in it and I don't think it is worth the money. I've thought about maybe a 110cc-125cc Honda Elite swap, but have not gone into details.

As for mine, I have an after market shock, GP exhaust, Airbox delete (Uni filter), underseat storage cage, and after market CDI. Still have stock variator, which leads me to believe I have stock roller weights (haven't taken it apart to check the weights).

My word of caution about exhaust and intake swaps is BE CAREFUL! Mine came this way, but the jetting gets a little tricky once you go away from Honda settings. So if you swap exhaust, you'll have to re-jet immediately.

I would recommend changing the CDI, roller weights (Dr Pulley sliders), and maybe variator. That should allow you to run in the low 40's without upsetting the Air/Fuel ratio.

If you do change exhaust/intake...we can talk jet sizes later.

Your mods sound very reasonable, nothing too crazy.

Is the gp exhaust loud? I like how quiet and discrete the sound from the stock one is, I just hate how bulky it is.

So yours came with all the stuff done to it, I guess you probably wouldn't know if that guy did it himself, or had a shop do the jetting and stuff. I have a local shop that I go to, and they mentioned they work on the Ruckus.

Thanks for the heads up on all this stuff Rock, greatly appreciated. I'll prolly have more questions too, haha.

For the Ruckus, yes the exhaust is "loud" compared to stock. My wife used to hear me coming from almost a mile away

As for the Ruckus, they guy I bought it from picked it up at an action...so he had no clue. However, when I got it home I went through it thoroughly and the mods are really easy to do.

The CDI is pretty much plug and play. For the variator you'll need access to an impact gun though.

I re-jetted the Ruckus myself when I moved from NC to UT...it is only about a 30min process total, but again the AFR is not quite right and you have to play with it...unless you get all the required equipment to monitor AFR and RPM's (but too costly).

Stock jetting is 35slow/75main. In NC I was running a 35slow/92main, but it bogged a little off the line at Wide Open Throttle. Thinking back I should have upped the slow to 38 and changed the main to 90.

When I moved to UT I went with a 35/85 setup...but might try a 88main later.

Jet kit is about $50 from Drow Motorsports (slow and main jets) genuine from Keihin (don't use cheap jets).

my 06 is all fat tired and all the fun stuff. It gets old though....

Perfect simple, cheap, build in my opinion consists of

2006 or newer ECU and jet needle
FMF exhaust
5 gram clutch weights
michelin boppers
6 inch extension (puts more weight on the front tire, less squirly)

~45 on flats,,,,, about the setup I did on my uncles and it is perfect.
