My cable clutch conversion

Just thought I'de share this.
I know opinions divided on the cable clutch, but the RC's clutch feel definately needs to be learn't to get it working best. I found that the Honda xl1000 sprocket cover fastening holes & actuating pin centres are identicle to the RC's (I own an XL & the clutch feels sweet). So I waited till one arrived on Ebay & here it is test fitted to my spare engine.
You need to do a bit of re-shaping work & the pin needs shortening but all the important bits are in the right place.
just waiting for a fireblade clutch lever & cable. Then I'll make an anchor bracket similar to the XL's out of stainless & it'll be done.
RC cable clutch for 45.00
gotta be worth a punt if you've been thinking about it.
I'll post more when I've done the work & give a comparison of clutch feel before & after.

Heres what it looks like unmolested.

awesome job. Thanks for posting, keep us updated on this. There is a cable conversion kit available from Durbahn, but this is an awesome and cheap alternative and it looks great.

Yes xl1000 = Veradero, I have been looking into this for the last year. I have my feelers over at two buddies that are bike breakers to let me know when and if they gets one.

One thing that has happened on more that one occasion to me and luckily both situations happened close to home clutch cable breakage.
Don't forget to have a spare clutch cable if traveling as sometimes cables just break, usually at the least opportune time.

Ever try changing a clutch cable in the dark on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere?

It blows ass...
