Hi guys! I need some really good facts if removing the flapper valve will not be a bad thing to do for the sp2? Thanks!

It is a good thing for the bike. Go to the below website, under mods, and it will walk you through the steps. It will also explain what the mod does.

2001 SP1 (sold)
2004 SP2 (properly stored)
2012 Ruckus (stolen)
2015 Grom (under construction)

Weyrauch pronounced (Y Rock)...Rock for short.

Your bike will run better, there are no negative effects. It's a noise damper required by the EPA.

I had one made on a lathe for free.
Then I used a bit of windshield silicon bond to make sure it stays there.

There are also kits on eBay you can use.

I used a 1.5" sink plug. Painted it black, looks great.
One thought that I did have while doing the mod is that achieving the goal can be done by just removing the flap. The diaphragm, vacuum tank, hoses ect can all stay in place if you want.
