RC Radiator Mods...

Hey guys!

I'm sure everyone has touched on this subject a few times but there is so much info out there maybe a refresh would be nice?

I live in Austin tx where the summer temps climb Into the 100+ for 30+ days consecutively. So my inner thighs could use a break from the RC fans rads.

I have an SP1 so I believe there is only one fan on the left side.

I have heard of switching the polarity on the fan but wouldn't that clash being that the fan blade is not turning in the correct direction? Would turning the fan over to the other side be a better alternative?

Then there are so many scoops and shrouds with mixed reviews...I have heard all these water wetter and engine ice products are not really great for te bike itself...

Summer is almost here for texans it's January and about 80*

I could use some tips on which direction to go

You could try this cheap mod.

You could also mount up a manual switch so you can make the fan come on as soon as it begins getting hot or as soon as you stop in traffic, and turn it off as needed.

On my SP1 I only used the OEM Hinda coolant, kept the bike fine here in NC during the summer...never got above 220.

On my SP2 I currently have Engine Ice (from PO...never got above 215-220), but shortly I will be switching to just distilled/deionized water with water wetter for the upcoming track season. I will go back to Honda coolant for the winter storage.

There are a few TX members here that I'm sure will chime in soon.

2001 SP1 (sold)
2004 SP2 (properly stored)
2012 Ruckus (stolen)
2015 Grom (under construction)

Weyrauch pronounced (Y Rock)...Rock for short.
