Question 1000rr tail on RC51?

I think I have seen this before, however I cannot find any posts. I believe there is a 09 tail on one I saw browsing around a while back, but I actually like the 07. I have high rise pipes on mine, don't plan on riding passengers and wouldn't even mind entertaining that thought.

I just can't find any related pictures/fitment/subframe builds showing this mod. I know there have to be a couple that have attempted this. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks, that is the one that I saw, although I think it looks okay. I think its a little small for the size of the tank/rest of the bike. I think the '07 would look awesome.

Anyone have a picture of that?

I think the tail on Evad101'2 looks fantastic

And that slight upward curve on the '07 ... nah, not for me.

Those are my two centses.

Remember that the best classic looks stay classic.... wild changes may look cool to begin with, but can end up looking weird a few years down the road.. + there will be problems with fitment, tidiness of wiring, location of ECU, battery, etc.

IMO - There's nothing wrong with the profile of the original tail and it blends well with the rest of the bike's design. It's only the tail light (Which was an add-on for road use) and rear fender that begs for attention.

Euro RC51 SP2: HRC WSB Ti Hi-Level, T1 Airbox & Snorkel, PCIII, Dymag CA5 Carbon Wheels, Ti64 Spindles (F, R & Swing Arm), Mori Link, Maxton GP7 Shock & Ohlins 832 Forks, Brembo GP Calipers & SBK narrow track (F), Braketech Disc (R), Brembo billet Underslung x 2 Brembo RCS, Tyga Triple, 7075 Stem, Probolt Titanium all over, Babyface rearsets, MR Complete Carbon Lineup, Custom Undertail & CBR 1000 LED, Watsen LED Indicators, Harris Brace, Giles clip-ons, Corbin seat, etc. 2013 BOTY.

Got to agree with you Stig.
I actually liked the idea of a CBR tail in the RC51, but or minds change the longer we have these things.

Simple mods can go a long way with these things to make abig difference in the end.

OP, I'm not trying to make you're mind up for you, I don't think anyone here will do that. It's your bike, make it yours. I have seen the mod before, I'll see if ican't find pictures for you.

Riding is what keeps you on your toes...

Marby did the 04-07 Tail on his 1000rr over on speedzilla.(I'm too lazy to link it.) I just don't think it flows right with the lines. the RC is really round VS the squared off tail of the 04-07 1000rr.

Evad's looked Killer IMHO.

Agreed. I have never seen the RC51 with a 1000rr tail, I think it looks great. Does anyone know how difficult it is to change that out?

I am all for classic look as well, but I have always thought that the tail section on the RC is way too wide.

I got the one off evad here on the forum, its I believe an 07+rr. I like the rc tail cleaned up, but I love the rr tail, especially since its a trackbike. Stock rc tail just gives the bike a heavy look. It is a modified rc subfame, cut off the back end and mocked and welded with some Al. tubing and rod. The trick is mocking it and then getting it to the tig welder. I believe I will modify mine a bit, but right now the electrical fit is nice and I need to assemble the bike before the weather warms up!
