Clutch & Brake Levers

Hello all,
I know like most things in life, you get what you pay for. So with that said, I have been shopping for Brake and Clutch levers to match the paint scheme on my bike ( Flat or Gloss Black).

My research has taken me to dealers, part houses, Ebay ...etc etc and the pricing is all over the board. Are some really better than others ?
  • What should I be looking for ?
  • What determines good from bad ?
  • Is this similar to kitchen hardware in that style / material dictates price ?

well one thing i look is the crash proof pivot. it pushes the lever upwards and out of the way if the bike is laid down and prevents them from snapping. i've had ASV's, CRG's, and Pazzos. ASV's are hard to find. They have the best adjustability. Pazzo's and CRG's are pretty mucht he same and very comparable. you'll be happy with any of them.
all are in the same price range. about 200 for both.

CRG now has pivoting levers as well.
Plus the shorty levers would seem less likely to be damaged in a crash since they don't stick out past the bar end.
The pivoting levers are more expensive than non-pivoting.

I bought the Titax levers this time....they are very nice. In the past I have used CRGs, which are okay as well. The CRG's fit and finish is a bit better but you pay for it. The Titax levers I have w whopping $85 in for both levers and could not be happeier for the money.

I had the folding levers before on another bike, but I couldn't stop fidgeting with them while I was cruising, I just kept trying to fold them up while I rode.

The SP2 I just bought had one CRG roll-a-click (brake side, non-folding) and one stock on the clutch side. The price of the single, non-folding CRG was a bit of a $urpri$e, but since I only needed one I bought it. They feel great in the garage, but I will know more after Saturday, assuming the rain stops.

Thanks Griff.....I really apprciate the help. I too have been looking at them, just wasn't sure if they are truly worth the money. I love modding my bike, but don't want to buy something for the sake of buying. I have checked several threads, but have yet to see WHY the CRG is so good ?

The main reason they got popular was the ease of lever adjustment on the fly.
Just reach up and select one of the 6 settings, instead of trying to rotate the knob while riding.
Plus they come in short lengths, which are nice for the brake side.
The clutch on the RC51 isn't that hard of a pull, and the shorty lever work just fine also.
And they add a touch of bling to the bike.

Just a little comparo. These are pazzo shorty's and CRG roll-a-click's. I've been running the pazzo's and they have plenty of hand room for me. Size xl gloves. I got the CRG's from rvtjonny and they are a little longer, but still not as long as the (clip-on) handle bar end. They're not the same handle pictured in twoelevens post. His may be the same length, I don't know...
