Back in December I had an accident with my RC51 that ended up with the bike going down on the left side. The crash bungs and swingarm spools by and large minimized the damage, but the impact broke the lug for the spool off the swingarm. I thought about re-welding it back on, but I thought there may be a way to protect the swingarm better.
I looked into rear axel sliders, but they are in the way when you have to remove the rear wheel. I found that Driven makes an axel slider that has a lug extending from the rear with spools on them. They don't make one specifically for the RC51 but in looking into it further, I found that I could modify the Driven axel sliders for a CBR1000RR. The CBR and RC51 OEM are by and large dimensionally the same with the exception of the height of thr CBR parts, which are 6mm taller.
I purchased a set for the CBR, machined 3mm off the top and bottom sides and they fit perfectly. I've attached some photos that show where I started and the finished product.
