Wheels - which is better?

I have bought a set of spare wheels for my SP2, mainly so I can pop the spare set on when I need them for track days or currently while my wheels get painted.

The wheels I bout are off an SP1 and came black and are angled spokes, like the are sort of twisted. The have a cut out in the spoke to save weight.

The ones I have on the SP2 (American Import) are polished alloy and the spokes are straight and hollow, as is the internals of the wheel and I can feel the spindle through the middle.

Question is - which one is better? Which ones do I put on for everyday riding and which ones do I save for the track. I would like to paint the lessor wheel and keep the others for spares.

Im hoping that they are interchangeable, I had major issues sourcing bearings for the current wheels on my last MOT so im hoping I havent bought the wrong thing.

Any info would be very helpful.

Cheers,

Both SP1 and SP2 wheels are similar, except the SP2 has 5 spokes vs 6 on the SP1.

I don't know what type of the wheel the other one is.
How many spokes are there, three? You may have a CBR wheel mounted.
If you post a photo we might may able to determine.

The SP1 and SP2 wheels are interchangeable, so no problem there.

I would attach a pic of the front end but its asking for a URL and I do not host anything online, sorry I think my SP2 wheels are five spoke after all. I understand they used to be polished but due to the previous owner's lack of upkeep with the polishing they are just normal ally look now.

I believe the SP2 wheels are slightly lighter, not that I've ever measured the difference though...

So although the difference will only be marginal anyways, I'd keep the SP2's for trackdays. Maybe get the SP2's wheels resprayed or powder coated in black since they'd be off the bike anyways.

Im inclined to agree with you there, I will strip the SP1 wheels and paint them to go with the show theme of the bike. Nice Urethane, Marblised, Gold Ice Pearl with Kandy over the top! (Trust me on this).

Like you say keep the existing wheels for when weight means more - either track or spares if I ever sell the bike.

Hopefully you should be able to make a claim & return goods if paid by Paypal?
Credit card is also relatively easy to reverse if goods are faulty.

Hey if you are interested, I have a set of rims for sale. They are off an 03 and include the rotors. I'll let them go for $350 shipped.

Perfect - if only I lived in the states! :-(

I contacted the supplier which is a breakers yard and they are calling me tomorrow. It may be that they could be balanced and im being ultra fussy (I'm a painter after all) but on spinning the wheen I would say its a good 7mm distort on the rim.

Worst case is I have to send it back up to their machine shop to get straightened. Its just time though, I was supposed to have them painted by now! :-(

Looking forward to seeing what goes wrong next week.

Cheers,

stu
