Unhappy help please...PCIIIR USB...battery issue question. Any geeks know?

SO i was ripping gears up a hill towards my local gas station, when all of a sudden, the FI light snapped on, my throttle felt like it cut off completely, and i came close to looking at the front tire from the wrong angle. then, it would (power/throttle) would come back on and the light would turn off...this happened a couple times until i turned the bike around and cruised back home softly and pissed off. What i found when i got back was that the positive terminal on the battery had somehow ejected the screw that holds the positive wires to it, so on opening the throttle and rocking the geometry towards the rear, the connection would break, and upon deceleration, it would actually reconnect. LONG story short, i fixed it, but realized that the bike was backfiring and riding rough. I connected the PC3R to the laptop and found that the map had been cleared and i was just running stock...so after al that, my question is this:

If i lose a battery connection, does the PC3R lose its map? I was under the impression that once it had a map sent to it, that map became the default and would be engrained in the internal memory of the hardware. Or, will i need to reconnect the PC3R EVERYTIME i disconnect the battery? Or should i be on the phone with Power Commander?

thanks!

The map should be stored in Flash RAM.
I've disconnected my battery many times with no loss of mapping.
However, I wonder if the make/break of that battery cable caused a glitch in the Flash RAM.
I'd say give Power Commander a try and see what they say.

See, the only thing that has me leaning towards a possibly faulty piece of PC tech is that when i bought it on ebay, it was described as coming off an 06 with yosh pipes and with the map currently installed for those pipes. Yet, when i installed it and booted up the program on my laptop, it told me there was no map at all installed. But, you're right, with flash memory it SHOULD be there regardless of how long its been disconnected. it would need something to trigger the clearing of the memory. If it weren't 10pm right now i would go slap the pc on it again and see if the map resets by me just disconnecting the battery, i suppose i have a tommorow project now.
