Projector HID conversion... WITH PICS !

hey guys, havent seen too many of these out there so i figured i would toss up some pics for you guys to see. These are of my conversion to HID projectors over the winter and wow what a difference. They are the single best thing i have done for the bike for nighttime riding.

any questions feel free to ask. all parts came from theretrofitsource and they were extremely helpful with the selection of everything i needed.

stock lights out of the bike

put in oven at 200F for 10 minutes to remove the lenses

unscrew the reflectors and disassemble

fab up some new brackets

mock up projectors and screw down to brackets

cut out filler panels from carbon sheet

Looks like that could be done by making a cardboard template first, then a good bench vise, cut-off wheel, dremmel. And earplugs, cause your air compressor is gonna be running a lot!

Hey white91formula, Nice job! That's a very creative mod and I love the idea of 2 lowbeams and 2 highbeams. I'd like to see those night time pix.

I'm really curious to know what electrical draw your mod puts on the system compared to stock in both low-beam and hi-beam.

i will have to get some pics tonight ... i have to adjust one of the headlights in a little bit as its still a little high.

as for the electrical draw, on the stock system it isnt using any power anymore and the stock plugs for the headlights are merely used as a signal on and off for the relays to power the ballasts. if you worried about the additional load on the stock wiring you don't have to, the HIDS have their own wiring that connects directly to the battery and is fused. Now if your worried because you have tiny batteries for the track well then i cant say because im running stock battery system.

and yes i ended up using a dremel to tweak the brackets in once they were off of the machine.
