Soft Brakes

hey gang...having trouble now that I have swapped out my brake lines and calipers. The fronts are really soft...bled them 4 or 5 times and can not get the pressure up ?

No J Dog, I am not going to use some Viagra / Cialis infused brake fluid to get the pressure up so to speak, so don't ask...

What could be causing this issue ? The back brakes firmed up right away, but I just can't figure out the front. All was well before I changed lines, wonder if I caused a problem by upgrading ? Would hate to buy a new master cyl if it is a small enough fix

Thoughts ?

Have you tried cracking the banjo bolt at the master? It was clutch side for me, but I had poor feel at the lever after doing some work, can't remember what exactly, but... I cracked the banjo maybe a quarter turn and pulled the lever. It spit and burped a bit then fluid streamed out clean, problem solved. Have some rags available obviously.

I second that. Had the same experience myself. If it's handy, let the bike sit overnight with the handle bars positioned so the brake res is the highest point - the air should end up there. The next morning, carefully bleed that banjo bolt.
Re-torque to 25 lb.ft.

this works , but i all so zip tie the break lever as far in as i can to the grip , that leave the master open so all the air comes up and out ,,

  • Penske triple adjustable shock Moriwaki linkage
  • forks , valves , springs ,top-out mod

@RIC - thanks, but what does "cracking" the bolt mean ? my Speiglers came with all new bolts ...

@J Dog - are you saying turn the wheels hard left ?

Sorry to be so literal, but I am sure you guys have forgotten more than what I know and all of this is 2nd nature for you. In that you know exactly what you mean ..but I am having a bit of trouble keeping up...that and I am a bit worried I have hosed myself

The zip tie trick works for me every time. Zip tie the lever to the bar overnight and it'll be perfrect in the morning. It works on the clutch, too.

Just "crack" the bolt open a bit, say a quarter turn.

It probably wont even take a quarter turn on that banjo bolt. Don't let any brake fluid drip on anything! Very corrosive to paint.
Yes, I meant to turn the handlebars full left to get that master as high as possible.
I forgot about the ziptie, another handy trick.

dont have to be zip ties , i have used duck tape , anything will work as long as it holds over night good luck , its not hard but great to know how .
