hi BTopp.

the KLS system i used i believe is an mqs-lsl. it has two channels (though you could probably just use 1).

i initially wired it into the loom between my ignition coils and CDI box, but found that it wasn't able to interrupt that signal at high rpms, so i moved the wiring to the signals from the ecu to the CDI. works perfectly now.

i suspect that the signal from the CDI was too strong for the transistors in the quickshift module. either way it works flawlessly now.

i should host the photos somewhere and re-post. it's come a long way and it's almost done at this point. i've documented most of it i think. haaha

Did you run into any issues with the KLS tripping any faults or fi lights? They make several different shifters some with I think programming to avoid causing any warning lights. Unfortunately for me I'm not familiar enough to know which one would be the best for the RC.

The 51 isn't that smart. The suzukis are the ones that have trouble.

I just use a Face Book album to host mine, it's free, and no size restrictions.

All I can say is WOW. Very nice. Definitely some serious RC51 porn.

Do you know where it is weight wise? Is there much difference between the Lady Bird cans and the carbon cans weight wise and sound wise? Any issues with melting boots on the exhaust pipes? One seems to be fairly close to your right foot when riding.

I'm definitely going to pull the trigger on the KLS system so when it comes time to install it I may be asking specific questions on which wires you connected to what in the wiring harness. Where did you end up mounting the kill switch for the KLS? Doesn't look like it comes with a handlebar mount.

i didn't use the kill switch for the unit. i don't think it's really necessary honestly. if my QS actually did screw up, i can access the wiring through the trunk and just unhook it.

i haven't weighed the bike, and i don't really care. but its maybe 30 or 40 pounds underweight. what matters most is the way it handles with the light wheels. so maybe full of fuel it's 440lbs? maybe 435? not sure.

the arka carbon cans are definitely lighter than the lbp ones, but they are also 100mm shorter. a bit louder if you remove the inserts, but i ride with the inserts in and it's very quiet, i love it. i can hear more airbox than exhaust, which is ideal.

it's quite easy to burn your boots on the pipes, but you get used to them being there and it becomes less of an issue. positioning of the rearsets can help with that as well.

Well the KLS is ordered. After doing a little research KLS apparently changed their wiring on the units and only has a single channel now. I was a bit unsure of how to install a single channel set up so I asked KLS if they could do a 2 channel set up and they were happy to do it. Im not sure how long I'm looking at but when it shows up, it looks like the install is pretty straight forward. So thanks for the info.
