Swingarm conversion sleeve length?

Help please.
Im about to get a sleeve made to do the SP1 - SP2 swingarm conversion, a friend is doing it as a favour this week and i havent got time to remove the old swingarm to measure the engine casing.
I know there is loads of threads on this subject but they all seem to give varying information. Im getting really confused on how long it needs to be, the engine will not be removed so i dont need the flange at one end. I am thinking of prob doing it in 2 pieces.
Does the overal length need to be the same if you have the flange or have removed it? (is the flange machined down or cut off?)
I have seen posts saying the overall length should be 175mm, 173mm, 176mm??????
Also seen posts saying that the 2 pieces should be equal and have just had info from sbkdrew that the 2 pieces are different lengths which has really thrown me, but he does seems to know his stuff.
so im just trying to get some clarification on this and see what others have done.

Cheers

If you could see inside the cases, you would see the other area where they bore through the cases, just like either side. This area is closer to the left side, so, if you go the two-piece route that is where the two pieces butt together and are supported.
It can be difficult sometimes to bore bar the custom ID of a full length tube so usually you go the 2-piece approach.
I'd imagine its possible to CNC a full length tube using an indexing boring bar maybe.

The dimensions I gave you are spot on.

Would anyone be able to divulge the exact length the spacer / spacers need to be?

I'm hoping to get one machined up this week but measuring between the spacers in my swingarm that distance is less than 175mm if the pivot bolts are pushed all the way in, bit confused!

TIA
Stu
