FS 00' RC51 Sport Touring $5000

Retiring from riding. I bought this bike new in 2000, always taken care of by me, three years ago modified it for sport touring use. Added a wind screen for some weather protection, removed the clipons and installed "sit up bars", made a new seat pan and padded it with NASA foam, made a soft bag carrier from the pillion seat base. It works very well for sport touring, only downside is short range, about 150 miles. Bike could be put back to original configuration at no cost, just install original pieces. Bike has installed; Moriwaki Ti high cans, stainless brake lines, PCIIIusb, Ahlman speedo healer, Scott steering damper, Ohlins rear shock, front forks comp.& rebound revalved, polished by Kyle, rear fender eliminator, K&N filters, 520 chain and sprockets (new), Euro light switch group, eye brow front directionals, 0 mile rear Michelin, almost new front Michelin, heated grips, soft bags, tank bag, Pit Bull stands front & back, cover, factory manual, all the original takeoff parts. Milage, 24000. I don't know how to post pics, but will email them if interested. Bike is in Minden, NV. willing to deliver part way. Please contact me at 775-790-1024

Good luck with sale. Not often I see an original owner sale like this.

End of an era

It has been a great ride! Owned several other bikes but always managed to keep the RC. A man has to know his limitations, and it is a good time to let someone else enjoy a terrific bike. Best wishes for the Holidays!
BTW, #169

Just posting Bill's pics he emailed me. Now that's an interesting way to mount a touring windshield! ... over top of the original location, instead of replacing the original - I like it!

Interesting, if you decide to part it out send me a PM I'd be interested in some stuff here n there. But I do have a question Im interested in the bars, I guess you just drill the triple and mount the bars but what did you do about the cable/clutch/brake/throttle lines and the electrical stuff? I ask because Im planning on doing this and some insight would be nice.

Thanks GLWS

The more I look at this bike, the more I like it. It's easy enough to make the couple changes, like throw the clip-ons back under the top clamp, maybe change rearsets, and a factory seat, - and you're ready to sport ride.
And Ohlins, Moriwaki, Scotts, and PitBulls to boot!
Having the touring bolt-ons is the bonus. I could see doing 400 maybe 500 miles or more in a day. Be nice if you want to make a several day trip somewhere.

The windscreen is Cee Bailey, it is for a dual sport Triumph. sorry I don't remember which one. I had to install longer hydraulic lines, the wires were long enough, only re-routing needed, the throttle cable is from a Honda ST 1300, it needed to be shortened. I eliminated the pull-to-close cable. I rotated the throttle so the cable is routed "up" to clear the fairing. You will have a tough time replicating the bar bend, as I used a set of Dick Mann TT bars, these have not been available for a long time. I'm sure you can find something. In September a group of us went on my "farewell" tour, over the hill to Fortuna, up the Oregon coast, and back to Minden. About 2300 mi./ 350-500 mi. days are my favorite. Were my favorite, it's hard to think about not riding anymore, after more than 50 years of it!
BTW, the windscreen is 20" tall, it is available 22 and 24, I'm short(5'6") I would pick the 22" in the next life.
