So other than pulling the radiators to mount these, what other modifications are required? Suppose it means removing the lower v-cowling?

You'll need to cut the v cowl to accommodate the scoops.

due to fan differences and oil cooler location, these really don't work at all for SP1's do they?

Will not fit with the sp1. If you switched to sp2 oil cooler you may be able to fit them with a bit of work.

Any photos of the v-cowl modifications needed? Or maybe a custom fiber v-cowl to match?

I remember reading a while back that these were supposed to dramatically lower operating temperatures but I don't recall if it was specifically while moving, sitting still, or in all conditions. Does anybody have real-world experience with how these effect cooling?

The running temperature of the bike will drop quite a fair bit as soon as the bike gets over 20kmh.

Thorsten Durbahn says that they will drop temps upwards of 30 degrees.

While sitting idle or crawling in traffic your still depending on your fans.

Pusher fans will be a needed item/mod as well thank you kwtoxman for making mention of that.

I have an SP2 vcowl here... ( Thanks to James )

Will be molding it soon and making available a C/F OEM version of the Vcowl for the Sp2 and after I complete that mold I could modify it then remold to make a version that fits with the rad scoops if desired.

Picture from Thorsten's site.

I don't have any pics of my v-cowl. If you'd like I can get a pic of what mine now looks like on my bike right now. I can say that I did cut a lot of my v-cowl out. Probably a little too much to be honest.

I can say that my bike on a 90 degree day, like I saw here in Wisconsin today, would normally run around the 200 degree mark going down the highway. Today I saw as low as 172 degrees while riding.

BTW Matt, if you make a carbon fiber v-cowl that works with the rad scoops, consider me your first customer.
