Both types will work but I want to keep things simple and less chance of running into any errors with a conversion cable.

I switched to a usb version a few years ago with hopes to add a quickshifter eventually.

I had a quick shifter on a track bike and a 2012 Aprilia Tuono. Unless your racing I would not bother.
