Just a guess

Probably something a lot of people first threw out, and later new owners have a need for one. My guess.

2 up on the RC is rough on both operator and passenger. I did it one time, never again. Took the seat off and replaced with the the cowl.

I go two up all the time, you just have to be comfortable with a passenger on the rear. If they know how to ride and lean with you it's not an issue at all, do I prefer to ride solo yes but my son loves to ride and the list is very short to the people I'll let him ride with. Personal preference.
