First Track Day Weekend on the RC YouTube

This was my first time on a track period. I've ridden alot in my time but never on a racetrack. This was at Texas Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, Texas. A Level 1 class consisting of about 8 or so 20 minute sessions followed by 20 min. classroom instruction. A real Blast!

Did you almost eat it right at the beginning of the video in the pits when you put your foot down?

Cresson is a really fun track. My first trackday was there too. Ridesmart is a good group of guys (at least they were when I was there, I'm sure the same guys are running things). They also have a lot of good videos on youtube. At cresson you really need to watch the seams and cross them at a decent angle to keep your front tire from catching the groove and following it. Looked like you were doing a good job of that and your lines looked good.

I kept telling the computer screen to downshift. You should be in second gear when you go through rattlesnake (the tight right-left after the front straight). Also, try to be smoother on the gas. Right after rattlesnake at 4:30 in the video, you chop and apply the throttle a couple times. If you are in a higher gear, the on/off of the throttle isn't as abrupt. I've found that it is easier to use the clutch to adjust speed than shutting the throttle and opening it.

All in all that isn't bad at all for your first day.

I'm always right.

Cresson is a very fun track! The faster you get and stay on the race line the seams won't be a problem. There are some good guys with RideSmart that genuinely want to help.

BMiller123.. yeah ha ha on me looking to far left before up to speed, got tippy. Alot going through the noggin on the first weekend. Thanks on the line comment, it was really a blast using all the track. Your so right on lugging through Rattlesnake. I watch it and hear the same thing.
Good news, bad news, I really love my cherry RC, and the concerns of going down on it worried me enough that I jumped out and bought a GSXR750 track only bike. Bought a used Ohlins shock for it, and studying what i $hould do for the front end. Now I can keep the daily driver in one piece and sharp. R
