Thwarted Bike-Jacking in Brazil

I'd like to say I feel sorry for the kid, but there is that truism "if you live by the sword, you die by the sword".
He wouldn't have gotten shot if he hadn't tried to steal the bike.

The owner was lucky there was a policeman right there ready to use his weapon.
I can speak Portuguese, so understood everything. At first he was saying, "You can take the bike, I don't have a gun", but after the shooting he was shooting off his mouth to the guy on the ground. If I were him I wouldn't have shown my face on the video or even the licence plate, though. What are the chances he won't get gunned down in retaliation if they ever find him?
Serves the thief right though... he got off lightly that time. Could have been shot dead.

Aw crap ... too bad. I thought he did die. He deserved to. Threatening somebody's life with a loaded weapon just to steal a thing ... death is the appropriate penalty.

If anyone out there is dumb enough to even consider stealing a bike I would think this would change some minds.
