Social Solace.

Thanks for the post, SubSailor.

It's one reason why I'm not on FaceBook.

But then again, we are "Old Timers & Old School" & part of a VERY small minority.

Take Care.

Its the evolution of society, things change as do people in order to adapt, kinda like building an airplane and the older gen saying it was too dangerous and you'll never get me in that... probably said it about cars too, and mobile phones before they could do all they do now. It eventually balances out.

Has just realized that I don't care what it costs until I get the bill! :roll eyes: ...

Thanks Sub for this........

At least I know I'm not alone embracing those thoughts.

I honestly wish I could afford the trip to get to know every single one of you in this forum up close, sitting by a fire and talk......not typing anything.

One of the best forms of bonding between humans....the camp fire, nothing like it.

on the flip side I have mates all over the world and without this I wouldn't get to keep up with them at all, intact we'd have lost touch... They're coming over to Bonnaroo music festival in TN in june and I've already bought the Union Jacks for the tent. That will be our camp fire!

Now granted manners dictate that you don't need your phone all the time and socializing could become a lost art.

I'm guilty of spending too much time in front of the PC, as I must for work.... and a bit of procrastination. I had friends all over the world when I left school, as many had come from all over to study there - and we still remain friends, but not so much on Facebook.
I don't get on there much, but I do e-mail a fair bit. It's easier than sending letters by post. But yeah - can't argue with the wisdom in that short video clip.

On purpose - our kids don't watch TV & our cable isn't even connected. They won't have phones or ipads, or even computers of their own till much later. There's a garden and surrounding forest outside for them to entertain themselves with, tools for them to make things with and nature for them to immerse themselves in.
TBH - We're not even sure we want to put them in a school where they'll be surrounded by kids with computer games and gossip about the latest soap opera and celebrities. My wife's looking into creating a small school shared with other kids at like minded mothers here in our home where the kids learn through what they're inspired by & interested in, not taught like parrots.

Haha...old timer...this coming from my friend who says I'm living in the past because I use email

Glad to see you around the forum more frequently friend.

Its funny that the video is posted on a forum (form of social media)...ironic no???

Guess that is why I limit the amount of electronic time my boys have and we don't have cable. Get them out and active every chance I get.
