Hi, new here I haven't owned a sport bike myself, I currently ride a VTX 1300C, but my youngest son is purchasing a 2003 RC51 and I know we'll probably be needing info on different aspects of servicing the bike and other repairs. Is there anything that stands out as a particular problem on the bike? I look forward to reading every ones post and getting more information on this great bike.

No problems from design. Well built and reliable bike.
The only problems occurs due to lack of maintenance, abuse, and age/weather.
I got an '02 RC51 and it starts every time.

Regardless of machine, if it's abused, poorly maintained, it will break no matter how well designed it is.
Treat it well and it should last a very long time.

Its a Honda....keep the oil changed and add gas, check the air pressures....thats about it usually.

If your son keeps the bike clean the RC will be fine.

Read RC51.org website for all kinds of handy information too.

You may want to get him a new Sargent driver seat if you want to have grand children some day!!
