Make sure you take at least one side fairing off check for leaks, cleanliness, wear. Also check the brake/clutch fluid color, wiring in the tail section butchered due to no electrical skills (See Subsailor) ...this will tell you the last owner took care of the beast.

SP1, great. SP2, greater. SP2 with 3100 mi., Greatest! IMO that's a - great -find. SP2's got some more tweaking, like bigger throttle bodies, better injectors, improved suspension, are a few. That low milage on a 9 year old bike is rare. Negotiable, probably means you can get it for 5400 or 5500, maybe less. Depends on how "motivated" he is when you show up with cash. And it's got decent exhaust, dubbl bubble windscreen, maybe a couple other goodies? Look for a pcIIIusb, or pcIIIr, or a pcII. I'm sure you know about Power Commanders, but those are the ones you'll find on the RC's. Do all those things madbuyer said, and if it checks out, you got a real bike there. Look at those tires real close too for age and weather checking, they might be original. 190/50-17 and 120/70-17 are stock sizes. If you see 190/55-17 that's cool too.

Are you anywhere near Bakersfield?

That's close enough to the bay area and especially the LA area, I hope it's still there for you next Tue. That is a real find with the milage, I hope it doesn't pick up some more mile's on the way to someone elses garage...

If you have the money, and you want this bike, call and offer him a partially refundable deposit of 500 to hold it for you. He might go for it. This has worked for me once or twice on craigslist.

Good Luck bro, hope you score! And take a "first day" picture.
