New member in Spain needs help!

Hey guys, I have a 2002 SP2 that I brought over from California as I recently moved to Europe. I waited 2 months biting my nails the whole time for it to get here. Somewhere along the lines the expat people failed to mention that I need some sort of verification on the bike and if it complies with any european standards. I'm trying to get a spanish license on the bike but at the very least with this verification I can take her on the road.

Anyone know how one would go about obtaining this document or if my California '02 RC51 would even pass emissions testing?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cali models are the most strict... if it meets CARB requirements (California Air Resources Board) then it exceeds Euro Spec 3 which I believe is the standards you are looking for. Do some research on the internet... but those people there should know that...

Thanks for the info, your correct the euro spec 3 is what I'm after. The only problem is that if I have the authorities do it here it cost 800 Euros with no guarantee to pass. They say if I get certification from back home then its no problem!

is there any way to get some sort of verification from the California Air Resources Board? I've read through the entire site but can't find anything that points me in that direction...

Again thanks for the help!

You should have something on the air box or gas tank that states it meets CARB requirements, its the emissions sticker. Check there. I dont know for sure where it is but it would be on the bike. I know on my MH900E it was on the gas tank, and also had the diagram for the emissions vacuum line routing on the same sticker if I recall.

You are probably going to need some docs from Honda in Spain, when my buddy in Germany does this he has to get certification from the dealer of that model...some don't want to give that info up as they see import bikes cutting into their sales...good luck!

Wouldn't your inspection paperwork from when the bike was in Cali suffice here???

Good luck in Spain.
