New to riding the RC...but have always been a fan.

Haven't ridden much in the last year, but today I pulled the trigger on a pristine 2000 RC. Bike has about 9k miles, not a scratch on it. She's a cherry, for sure. I'll post some pics soon. Looks like it just came off of the showroom floor...gave $4200 for it, but knowing the history and seeing all of the paperwork...I had no problem giving that up. I look forward to putting some time on it. Huge difference from the R1's I'm used to Figured it was time for a little change!

Welcome to the group!!

So what drew you to the RC51?
Compared to an R1, the RC51 is quite a different bike in many ways.

Welcome, I also came from an R1. Very different indeed!

I actually tried to buy another R1 ('04+) after selling my '02 R1 back in '07. I still can't believe the prices that some were asking for the R1's at the time. There was a guy who wanted $9k for an '06 with 10k miles on it that had been down and had gouges all over the swingarm. I ran into some RC51 ads. I had completely forgot about the bike after I stopped working at the Honda dealer in 2000. Glad I made the switch back to a Honda after all these years.

Welcome. There's a certain something that the RC has that no other sport bike can match. Call it character if you want but they're just special

I've always had a thing for twins haha...Seriously though, I remember the first time that I ever saw an RC when I was stationed back in VA Beach and had no idea what it was (back in '02), then later found out and have been curious about the ride ever since. All I've really ever had was the R6 and R1; awesome bikes, but when I gave up my '04 R1 at the end of last season I knew that I wanted to check out the RC. This is just a long story short, but you get the idea. And THANKS! I look forward to perusing the forum!

Yeah, some folks like to hold them at more of a personal value than what they might actually be worth. I'd have another one, but after riding the RC for only a couple days even...I don't think I'll ever give it up. Add a bike, sure...but this RC isn't going anywhere

My only decision now, is on what tire size I'm going to swap these old Pilot's out for. I already know I'm going with the 2CT's, but don't know if I should stick with the stocker size, or do as I have seen some suggest; bump it to the 190/55. Only reason I'm tearing the current tires off, is that the guy I bought it from had it sitting in the garage without much use (besides a weekly start up to op temp), for 4 years. I've always run the 2CT's as long as I can remember...but don't know enough about these bikes yet to make a stone cold decision. Perhaps I can bug you guys for a little feedback? Please and thank you

I would like to go with the 190/55 out back, but it looks like I'll need a shim for the rear. Where can I pick one up? And will 7mm up in back and 3mm down in front be a good starting point, or is there a better base starting point? Thanks much in advance...
